7th Parliament by School Background
7th ParliamentAccording to the information on the structure of the 7th Croatian Parliament, 72 percent of its Members are university-educated.

Out of 151 MPs, 79 men and 30 women MPs hold university degrees. Among the 109 university-educated MPs there is one academician, 12 MPs hold doctoral degrees, 15 master’s degrees and two are university specialists. Six master’s degree holders and two doctoral degree holders are women. Eight percent of all the MPs hold a doctor’s and ten percent a master’s degree. Most of the master’s and doctoral degrees were obtained in the field of social sciences.

With respect to their party affiliation, most of the university-educated MPs, 44 of them, come from the ranks of the Social Democratic Party, 40 are members of the Croatian Democratic Union, eight are members of the Croatian People’s Party, and three are members of the Croatian Democratic Alliance of Slavonia and Baranja. The Croatian Labourists – Labour Party, the Istrian Democratic Assembly and the Independent Democratic Serbian Party each have two university-educated MPs, while the Croatian Party of Pensioners, the Croatian Peasant Party and the Bosnian Democratic Party of Croatia each have one. Five out of six Independent MPs hold a university degree.

Sixteen men and five women MPs hold two-year post-secondary school qualifications. Twenty men and one woman MP have secondary school qualifications. (Internet Editorial Staff)
