Women representation in Sabor has increased since the elections when the percentage of women MPs was 19.8 . Out of the 151 Members of the Croatian Parliament 36 are women. The 7th Parliament is thus comprised of 24 percent of women. The previous parliamentary term had a similar level of women representation – 25 percent, while 22 percent of MPs in the 5th Parliament were women.
Most women MPs come from the ranks of the Social Democratic Party (21) and the Croatian Democratic Union (8). Three women MPs belong to the Croatian People's Party, while the Croatian Labourists - Labour Party, Croatian Party of Pensioners, Croatian Civic Party and the Croatian Party of Rights dr. Ante Starčević each have one woman MP.
According to the Inter-Parliamentary Union report, in the year 2011 women won 21.8 percent of seats in 69 parliaments across 59 countries. The Nordic countries with a 42 % women representation hold the top position in Europe, while Andorra and Slovenia, respectively taking the proportion of women from 18 to 50 percent and from 19 to 32.2 after the 2011 elections, record the highest increase.
