Vladimir ŠeksBorn in Osijek on 1st January 1943. Married to Mrs. Anica Resler-Šeks, MD; son Domagoj (24), student, daughter Zrinka (34), court adviser at Osijek Municipal Court.


Completed elementary school and high school in Osijek; graduated from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1966; passed bar examination.



22rd December 2003: fifth parliamentary mandate, elected Speaker of Parliament

2002: elected Deputy Chairman of the HDZ Central Committee

2000: elected Chairman of the HDZ Representative Group in the Croatian Parliament

January-April 2000: Acting Chairman of the HDZ

January 2000: fourth parliamentary mandate

1996-2000: Chairman of the State Amnesty Commission

1995-1999: member of the HDZ Presidency; Vice-Chairman of the HDZ, member of the Council of Defence and National Security, and of the Council for Strategic Decisions of the President of Croatia

October 1995: elected to the Croatian Parliament for the third time; Deputy Speaker, Chairman of the Committee on the Constitution, Standing Orders and Political System, Chairman of the HDZ Representative Group

August 1992-autumn 1994: Vice-President of the Croatian Government for Internal Affairs

April-August 1992: Public Prosecutor of Croatia

1992: second parliamentary mandate; Deputy Speaker

1990: elected to the Croaitan Parliament for the first time; Deputy Speaker, Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs

Homeland War: Chairman of the Emergency Center of Eastern Croatia, member of the Supreme State Council

1989 and 1990: elected Vice-Chairman of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)



1967-1969: trainee at the Municipal Public Prosecutors Office in Vinkovci

1970: Deputy Municipal Public Prosecutor in Vinkovci

1970-1971: Municipal Court Judge in Osijek

1971: Deputy Regional Public Prosecutor in Osijek

1972-1981: barrister

1981: convicted on account of ""conspiracy against the State", disbarred and served a seven-month prison sentence in 1985

since 1987: active in international non-governmental organisations for human rights (founder and co-chairman of the Yugoslav Helsinki Committee, international member of AI, observer of IGRM (Frankfurt) for Southeastern Europe)
