Parliament Speaker Jandroković receives new Apostolic Nuncio to Croatia

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Tuesday received the new Apostolic Nuncio to Croatia Archbishop Giorgio Lingua in an inaugural visit, who underscored that Croatia can be an example of respect of religious and minority rights.

Jandroković wished Archbishop Lingua a successful term and expressed Croatia's readiness to continue the good cooperation with the Holy See.

He underscored The Vatican's help and support in Croatia's struggle for independence, international recognition and membership to the European Union.

Archbishop Lingua said that Croatia can be an example to other countries when it comes to respecting religious and minority rights. In the talks with Jandroković he discussed the situation in Southeast Europe with special emphasis on preserving the position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was underscored that good cooperation and friendly relations are reflected in intensive high-level bilateral visits and the two officials discussed strengthening values that modern society is founded on such as freedom, democracy, respect of human rights including religious freedom.
