More than 800 people visit Croatian Parliament on Open Door Day

Zagreb - More than 800 people, both local and foreign visitors, visited the Croatian Parliament on Open Door Day on Saturday to see the most important parliamentary sights and hear interesting information about the history of  Parliament.

Citizens were also able to meet with members of Parliament and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković.

Jandroković spoke of the Croatian Parliament's resolution of 8 October 1991 to break constitutional ties with the former Yugoslavia, and of 7 October 1991, when the Yugoslav Air Force fired rockets at the Banski Dvori government building.

He also briefly referred to other important dates and events that were significant for the Croatian state and the history of Parliament, the work of Parliament from the independence of Croatia to the present day, the legislative processes, and the work of members of Parliament, pointing out that "the common good should be more important to politicians than the particular interests of their political groups".

Parliament Open Door Day has been held since 2013, most often on the occasion of Statehood Day and Croatian Parliament Day.
