Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković received South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Thursday received South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and invited Korean companies to invest in the Croatian energy sector, IT and digital technologies.

The Korean PM, who was paying an official visit to Croatia, agreed that bilateral relations were excellent and that his visit would give them an additional boost in the future. 

Jandroković informed the Korean official of Croatia's interest in attracting more investments in the energy, IT and digital technology sectors.

The interlocutors discussed the favourable position of the seaports of Rijeka and Zadar as a gateway for Korean commodities to the European market.

The two officials expressed satisfaction with the memorandum of understanding signed on Wednesday by the South Korean company SK E&S and the Croatian companies JANAF and LNG Croatia, which should facilitate their cooperation in the energy sector.

They also said that they were glad to see a rebound in the number of Korean travellers visiting Croatia after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Han informed Jandroković about the candidacy of the city of Busan for hosting EXPO 2030, and requested Croatia's support for its bid. He congratulated Croatia on joining the eurozone and Schengen area.

Jandroković said that Croatia was now committed to its goal of joining the the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and that it counted on Korea's support on this path.
