Parliament Speaker meets with EC Vice President Šuica

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Thursday met with European Commission Vice President for Democracy and Demography Dubravka Šuica.

Šuica informed Jandroković about the European Commission's Work Program for 2023, which she presented earlier at a session of the Parliament's Committee for European Affairs.

In this year's ambitious program, the Commission is committed, among other things, to solving the problem of high energy prices to reduce the burden on households and businesses across Europe, while at the same time accelerating the green transition.

Šuica in particular underlined the importance of the results of the Conference on the Future of Europe in the creation of the program, considering that as much as two-thirds of the political initiatives contained in it are based on citizens' proposals. She also welcomed the active participation of members of the Croatian parliament in that historic process.

Jandroković expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Commission's policy priorities and goals for the current year were formed flexibly, which can facilitate responses to current challenges, including those caused by the war in Ukraine. He underscored the need to strengthen the solidarity and unity of the EU, as well as the resilience of its member states in responding to crises.
