MPs Miro Kovač and Joško Klisović spoke to Brussels correspondents about Croatian support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to EU

Zagreb - Croatia hosts a five-day press trip for a group of about 60 correspondents from international media houses in Brussels. This is a regular start-up visit to the country holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in order to present the main pillars of the Presidency program through meetings and discussions with top officials.

Following meetings with ministers in the Croatian Government, a meeting was held on Thursday with MPs Miro Kovač (Croatian Democratic Union) and Joško Klisović (Social Democratic Party of Croatia), who in a relaxed atmosphere answered various journalistic questions about Croatian foreign policy and different perspectives and approaches of position and opposition in addressing certain foreign and European issues. The Brussels correspondents were interested in, among other things, the views of two MPs, as experienced diplomats, on enlargement policy, cohesion policy, the distribution of European funds.

Kovač and Klisović pointed out that since Croatia's independence, the two largest parties in Croatia, Croatian Democratic Union and Social Democratic Party of Croatia, have regularly reached consensus on important foreign policy issues, such as Euro-Atlantic integration, and EU enlargement policies. - We are aware of different positions among the so-called old and new members of the Union, but Croatia is committed to continue enlargement to the countries of Southeast Europe. It is precisely this topic that has been highlighted as one of Croatia's priorities during its Presidency, as it is in its long-term interest to achieve stability in the closest neighbourhood, Kovač and Klisović jointly assessed, expressing particularly friendly and neighbourly support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
