Parliament to resume after Easter, with break scheduled ahead of local elections

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Friday closed the fifth session of the Croatian Parliament following a vote and announced that the next session would begin on 23 April, after the Easter holiday, with another break scheduled two weeks ahead of the local elections.

"We will begin the new session on Wednesday, 23 April. We'll be in session that week until 25 April and continue the following week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – 28, 29 and 30 April," Jandroković said.

Since the local elections are scheduled for 18 May, and a large number of MPs are standing as candidates, Jandroković also announced a new recess to allow time for field work, which will last for two weeks during the election campaign.

"We'll resume on 20 May, after the local elections, so that everyone taking part in the elections has time for political activity. There are many candidates so this gives them a chance to focus on the local elections," he said.

At the close of the sitting, the Speaker wished his fellow MPs a happy Easter, "full of faith, love and good health".
