CEI PD Parliamentary Committee's Joint Statement adopted in the Croatian Parliament

Zagreb – The meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of the Central European Initiative Parliamentary Dimension held today in the Croatian Parliament gathered over 40 representatives from 15 parliaments of the CEI member states. At the meeting, chaired by Mr Peđa Grbin in his capacity as the CEI PD President, the participants unanimously adopted the Joint Statement on sustainable tourism and the role of parliaments.

The CEI PD Parliamentary Committee was also attended and addressed by the Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Mr Željko Reiner, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism Mr Frano Matušić, Member of the Tourism Committee of the Croatian Parliament Ms Sabina Glasovac, the Deputy Secretary General of the Central European Initiative Mr Antal Nikoletti and the Head of the European Parliament's Information Office in the Republic of Croatia Ms Violeta Simeonova Staničić.

Following a constructive debate and a fruitful exchange of opinions and experiences on the topic of sustainable tourism, the Parliamentary Committee elected the new chairs of the general committees of the Central European Initiative Parliamentary Dimension. Thus, until the end of 2019, the General Committee on Political and Home Affairs, the General Committee on Economic Affairs and the General Committee on Cultural Affairs, will be chaired by Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary, respectively. 

The general committees will meet by the end of October and present their reports in November in the Croatian Parliament at the CEI PD Parliamentary Assembly, which will mark the end of the Croatian Presidency of the CEI PD.
