Croatian Parliament Delegation to PACE Participates in the Second Part of the Assembly’s 2012 Session

Strasbourg – Head and members of the Croatian Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe - Gvozden Srećko Flego, Igor Kolman, Frano Matušić and Ivan Račan – are taking part in the work of the second part of this year’s regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, taking place in Strasbourg from 23 to 27 April.

The agenda of the session includes: a debate on the situation in Syria, debate on the future of the European Court of Human Rights and the Brighton Declaration, debate on human rights and their protection at the national level, report on the monitoring of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation held on March 4, debate on the equality between women and men as a condition for the success of the Arab Spring. Parliamentarians will also be discussing the following topics: promotion of active citizenship in Europe, good governance and ethics in sport, protection of freedom of expression and information on the Internet, promotion of appropriate policies on taxes and pensions, and the situation of IDPs and returnees in the North Caucasus region.

Parliamentarians will be addressed by Saad dine El Otmani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation of Morocco, Bassima Hakkaoui, Minister of Solidarity, Family, Women and Social Development of Morocco, and Zlatko Lagumdžija, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
