Croatian Parliament Speaker, Maltese president talk cooperation

Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic on Monday held talks with visiting Maltese President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca on parliamentary cooperation and overall bilateral relations, notably on the economic front.

The two officials underlined the importance of parliamentary cooperation and a possibility of Malta sharing its experience from presiding over the Council of the European Union and Valetta as the European Capital of Culture 2018.

Coleiro Preca and Jandrokovic said the bilateral relations were very good and friendly, underlining there were many areas for possible cooperation. In that context they welcomed the announced Croatian-Maltese business forum in Zagreb.

Coleiro Preca, who began a two-day visit to Croatia on Monday by meeting with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, said Malta was lifting restrictions for Croatian workers and that this decision was effective immediately. Earlier today, the Maltese president held talks with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic about advancing economic cooperation and the possibility of jointly appearing on third markets. (Hina)
