Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković met on Wednesday with a delegation from the Municipality of Cetingrad and the Cetin–1527 Association to discuss a proposal to designate 2027 as the "Year marking the 500th anniversary of the Croatian Parliament at Cetin".
Jandroković was presented with activities related to the anniversary, intended to recall the 1527 session of parliament at which the Croatian nobility made an independent and sovereign decision to elect a king from the Habsburg dynasty.
He thanked the association for its long-standing commitment to preserving the old town of Cetin and its place in Croatia's historical heritage.
The initiative represents an important reminder of the depth of Croatia's statehood and parliamentary tradition, which he supports in his capacity as speaker. He noted that the Cetin parliament is referenced in the foundations of Croatia's constitution, underscoring the importance of marking what he described as a pivotal moment in the country's political history with due dignity.
The interlocutors backed the proposal to declare 2027 the "Year marking the 500th anniversary of the Croatian Parliament at Cetin".
