Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković wished citizens a happy 2026

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Wednesday wished citizens a happy 2026, saying political stability and confidence in one’s own capabilities were essential for future achievements.

He said 2025 had brought Croatia continued political stability, which he described as a key prerequisite for progress in economic, energy, defence, security, transport, social and demographic policies.

Jandroković said parliament has a special responsibility to contribute to these goals by passing high-quality legislation while safeguarding citizens’ interests, security and overall wellbeing.

At the same time, he noted that the outgoing year had been marked globally by continued uncertainty and instability, meaning the world was entering 2026 amid unpredictability and concern. Even so, he said there remained hope for sustainable peace and lasting stabilisation, from Ukraine and the Middle East to other conflict-hit regions.

He recalled a Christmas message from the head of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference, Zagreb Archbishop Dražen Kutleša, stressing that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but an order based on truth, justice and respect for human dignity.

Those principles, Jandroković said, should guide Croatian society, calling for greater cooperation, solidarity, care for the most vulnerable and mutual respect.
