Sabor Speaker sends greetings to Islamic faithful on Ramadan Bayram

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković sent greetings on the occasion of Ramadan Bayram to the the leader of the Islamic Community in Croatia, Mufti Aziz Hasanović, and to Islamic believers, expressing pride in the atmosphere of mutual respect among members of different religious communities.

“On the occasion of Ramadan Bayram, I extend my sincere congratulations to you and to all believers of the Islamic faith in the Republic of Croatia on behalf of the Croatian Parliament and personally. The holy month of Ramadan is a time of deep spiritual reflection, fasting and prayer, but also a strong reminder of the values of solidarity, compassion and care for others. May Ramadan Bayram, as the culmination of this period, bring an abundance of joy, peace and blessings to your homes, and serve as a reward for the perseverance, sacrifice and good deeds that have marked the past weeks,” the message said on Friday.

110th anniversary of recognition of Islam as religion equal to others in Croatia

The Sabor Speaker emphasised that Croatia takes pride in the atmosphere of mutual respect and harmonious coexistence among members of different religious communities.

Marking this year’s 110th anniversary of the recognition of Islam as a religion equal to others in Croatia, he also recalled that for more than a century, the contribution of Muslim believers has been an important part of Croatian social life.

At a time that presents numerous challenges to all of us, the core messages of this religious holiday — a call for solidarity, mutual understanding and peace — are of particular value.

“May they encourage us to continue building a society based on a culture of dialogue, respect, responsibility and joint work for the common good. Bayram Şerif Mübarek Olsun” the message concluded.

President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković also extended their greetings to Croatian citizens of the Islamic faith on Friday.
