Constituencies bill, tax reform to be discussed in first week of next parliament session

Zagreb - Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković said on Tuesday that the parliament will convene again on Tuesday, 19 September, and the session will start with Question Time, with MPs discussing the Constituencies Bill and a set of nine tax-related bills during the first week of the session.

Speaking to reporters after a session of the Sabor Presidency, Jandroković said that MPs would on Wednesday discuss the Constituencies Bill, in which there is great public interest as well as interest by political parties, while on Thursday it would discuss the nine tax-related bills in second reading.

A week after that, a motion put forward by Bridge MP Marija Selak Raspudić regarding the parliament's standing orders will be discussed.

Jandroković recalled that the Constitutional Court had ruled that MPs have the right to directly propose changes to the standing orders instead of having to go through the Sabor's Committee on the Constitution, Standing Orders and Political System.

The parliament will be in session from 19 September to 27 October, after which it will be in recess in the week that coincides with All Saints' Day, 1 November, and it will continue work with a new session to begin on Wednesday, 8 November and end on Friday, 15 December.

On the agenda of the next parliamentary session are 201 items, of which 167 were on the agenda of the previous one but were not discussed, while 34 are new items.

Jandroković also said that the Sabor Presidency had decided by majority vote to name three of its rooms after deserving women Katarina Zrinski, Kata Šoljić and Savka Dabčević Kučar.
