Croatian Parliament Speaker receives Greek PM

Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Thursday held talks with the visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Jandroković and the Greek PM reaffirmed the traditionally good and friendly bilateral relations between these two Mediterranean countries.

They cooperate within European and Euro-Atlantic associations as well as within EuroMed 9, an alliance of nine the Mediterranean and southern European Union member states: Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain.

The Sabor Speaker thanked Greece for its support for Croatia's efforts to join the OECD, the Schengen Area, and the euro area.

The two interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the permanent rise in bilateral trade, which paves the way for new investment. Potential for headway exists in the energy sector, transport, tourism, and infrastructure. Greek companies are currently building some of the access roads to Pelješac Bridge.

Concerning migrations, Jandroković expressed solidarity with Greece that protects the European Union's external border.

Ukraine and the situation in southeast Europe were also on the agenda of their talks, with Jandroković emphasising the importance of respecting the positions of BiH Croat representatives and of the equal status of the Croats.
