Jandroković, Stefanchuk talk Ukraine situation

Zagreb - Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Tuesday spoke on the phone with Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Rada, who informed him of the current situation in his war-torn country.

Jandroković told Stefanchuk that "the Croatian people feel the deepest sympathy with the friendly Ukrainian people, which has already suffered enormously in this senseless attack."

He said that Croatia, a victim of the Great Serbian aggression in the past, persevered in the strongest condemnation of the military attack on Ukraine and its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence."

Jandroković said the Sabor adopted the Declaration on Ukraine which clearly and strongly condemned the Russian aggression and called for an immediate cessation of all military operations to prevent new human victims and material damage.

He added that the Croatian Parliament would continue to closely watch the situation and extend constant support for Ukraine's ambitions to join the EU.

He also extended Croatia's full solidarity with the Ukrainian people, its leadership, and Rada members, and said he hoped that military operations will cease as soon as possible and that lives will be saved.

Stefanchuk thanked Croatia for the assistance it has given Ukraine in these tragic events for his country.
