New US ambassador to Croatia: U.S.-Croatia relations at highest level

Zagreb - The quality of the relations between the United States and Croatia is at the highest level so far, the new US ambassador to Croatia, Nathalie Rayes, said in the Parliament on Thursday.

Strong cooperation has resulted in very concrete progress in recent years. This is evidenced by Croatia's accession to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), the Global Entry Program and the signing of the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation, as well as the initiation of a strategic dialogue between the two countries, said Rayes.

In December, the US Senate confirmed Nathalie Rayes, an influential Latin American activist, as the new American ambassador to Croatia. The Senate did so with a majority vote at the proposal of President Joe Biden.

In the meantime, she arrived in Croatia and handed over her credentials to the country's President, Zoran Milanović.

Jandroković and Rayes agree that in the coming period, cooperation between the two countries should be strengthened in terms of security, energy and the economy, while encouraging even more intense contacts between Croats and Americans.

Jandroković called for the improvement of cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as for consideration of the establishment of new direct air lines.

Both Croatia and the USA are ready to actively work on the affirmation of the Euro-Atlantic integration process in this region, it was said at the meeting, and the importance of the stabilisation and Europeanisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as joint strong support for Ukraine in a just defensive war against the Russian aggressor was also emphasised.
