Parliament reopens call to appoint three constitutional judges

Zagreb - Parliament's Committee on the Constitution on Wednesday invited judicial institutions, law schools, the Croatian Bar Association, legal associations, political parties, legal entities and individuals to propose candidates for the election of three Constitutional Court judges within the next 15 days.

The committee issued a renewed public call after none of the three candidates who previously passed the selection process, Željko Pajalić, Mladen Sučević and Goran Selanec, secured the required two-thirds majority, or 101 votes, in parliament last week.

The terms of judges Mato Arlović, Selanec and former Constitutional Court president Miroslav Šeparović expired on 12 October. As new judges have not yet been elected, their terms were extended until 12 April, leaving the Constitutional Court operating with an incomplete bench of 10 judges.
