Zagreb - Parliament on Wednesday unanimously amended the law on the wages of judges and other judicial officials, raising the gross base pay from €625.20 to €706.59 as well as the coefficient for first-instance court judges from 3.54 to 4.21.
The application of the law will cost €9.6 million this year and €23.2 million annually for 2024 and 2025.
Holodomor Declaration
Parliament unanimously adopted a Declaration recognising the Holodomor as an act of genocide committed against the people of Ukraine by the Soviet regime in 1932-33. Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Kyrylych attended the vote.
Speaker Gordan Jandroković said today was Ukraine Constitution Day, congratulating Ukrainians.
Centre of Excellence for Collecting, Processing and Analysing of Open-Source Data
By majority vote, parliament passed a law establishing the Centre of Excellence for Collecting, Processing and Analysing of Open-Source Data, a nonprofit founded by Croatia whose founding rights will be exercised by the Security and Intelligence Agency. This year €331,807 will be required for the centre's work.
In addition to Croatian representatives, the centre will include representatives of foreign security and intelligence as well as other services and international institutions that will join it by signing a memorandum of cooperation.
Labour Act amendments rejected
The ruling majority rejected a proposal by Katarina Peović of Workers' Front to amend the Labour Act so as to better regulate digital platform work. Before the vote, she invited the opposition to walk out of the chamber, which some MPs of the opposition did.
She said the rejection of her proposal was "a confirmation of contemporary slavery" and that the Croatian government was the only one in Europe to allow digital platforms to shirk any accountability.
