Parliamentary media committee endorses reports on national news agency and public broadcaster

Zagreb - The parliamentary Committee on Information, Computerisation and the Media on Wednesday endorsed reports on the performance  of the steering board of the national news agency (HINA) and the Programming Council of the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) in 2022.

The two reports were accepted with seven votes, and there were no votes against or abstentions.

Informing the committee about the business results of HINA in 2022, the board's chairwoman Majda Tafra Vlahović said that the news agency registered a net profit of HRK 1.25 million (€166,000), with the revenues rising 10% to HRK 28.4 million (€3.7 million).

In 2022, HINA and the European Parliament concluded an agreement on a four-year programme of education of young journalists about EU-related topics.

HINA joined the European Newsroom project in Brussels, too.

The Culture Ministry's state secretary Krešimir Partl told the committee that in the times of rising commercialisation of media outlets, it is necessary to work on upgrading public media.
